About us

Prague’s first dairy factory – the oldest industrial dairy factory in Bohemia was founded in Hostivice is 1870. Other factories were established in the following years: in Radlice, Vysočany, Nusle and Trója. In 1945-48, the individual dairy factories in Prague were nationalised and became the foundation of the national company, Pražské mlékárny.

Other nationalised dairy factories were gradually added to those. The Prague Dairy Trust was formed in 1953; it united all dairy companies in Prague and the region of Central Bohemia. In 1963, the companies were administratively combined to form a single national company, Laktos with registered office in Prague. Following November 1989, Laktos disintegrated into 13 independent state companies which meant the first step towards the dairy industry privatisation process.

One of the new independent companies was Laktos seated in Prague 9-Kyje which, at the time of starting its operation in May 1981, was the greatest state-of-the-art dairy factory in Central Europe.

Subsequently, on January 1, 1991, the company was registered as Pragolaktos, state enterprise. It was privatised on December 1, 1992 when a joint-stock company, Pragolaktos a.s., was incorporated.

Then, Alimpex spol. s r.o. and Pragolaktos a.s. merged to form ALIMPEX FOOD a.s.. A new production company, Mlékárna Pragolaktos, a.s., was registered in the Commercial Register in 2004. The company’s assets gradually became related with the Müller Group. Since 2010, Mlékárna Pragolaktos a.s. has been fully held by Sachsenmilch Leppersdorf GmbH. The factory specialises in the production of long-life milk and cream prepared by means of top technology by Tetra Pak and SIG Combibloc. At present, the company is one of the Czech Republic’s most important milk manufacturers. Utilisation of state-of-the-art technology in milk processing and packaging ensures the highest possible product quality as well as maximum production effectiveness. The level of production quality is also evidenced by IFS standard certification.
